These cutter shears feature a 2-inch stainless steel blade that allows for clean cuts ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in thickness. The blade is replaceable to ensure continued performance. The cutter shears are heavy, well-made, and designed as an efficient cutting tool for plastic tubing. The tool is incredibly easy to use and there is no mess created as the blade does not have to cut the pipe, meaning there are no burs or shavings to clean up. However, some users report that PVC that is cold may shatter and snap instead of being cut cleanly. Others report that the on/off switch requires more force than most Ryobi tools, and the tool is somewhat heavy when in use. Unfortunately, there are several shortcomings of this cutter shears. The end protector that the blade cuts into extends farther out and up compared to traditional hand cutters, which makes getting into tight spots or underground more difficult and creates issues with precision and consistency. Additionally, the blade is interchangeable and can be replaced, but the blade wiggles back-and-forth in the holder quite a bit on the spring and the unit cannot make a perfect 90-degree cut through PVC. Due to the holder's tapered design, issues with stress on one edge during angled cuts, make identical cuts nearly impossible.
