The DC18RC features a built-in fan that cools the battery so it can reach its optimum charging temperature faster. This also prolongs the battery life as the fan forces air through the battery's air vents while it charges. The batteries are compatible only with Star Protection tools, indicated by the Star Symbol and/or Yellow Battery Receiver under the tool. The 18V LXT 4.0Ah battery (BL1840) provides up to 35% more capacity per charge than the 3.0Ah battery (BL1830) and reaches a full charge in just 40 minutes.
