At the heart of the Makita XSL08Z is its powerful BL Brushless Motor, which delivers a blazing-fast 4,400 RPM for smooth, efficient cutting. This motor is paired with Makita's state-of-the-art X2 LXT technology, which allows the saw to be powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for a total of 36 volts of power and performance. As a result, you can expect up to 175 cuts per charge in 2x12 SPF lumber with two 5.0Ah batteries (sold separately). Additionally, the saw features automatic speed Change technology that adjusts cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance, as well as an auto-start wireless system for seamless communication with optional dust extractors (sold separately).

The Makita XSL08Z also features a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for remarkably smooth and accurate cutting. The saw has a reduced overall footprint that allows it to be positioned flush against a wall, and its direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity, crown molding cutting capacity, and 15-inch crosscuts at 90 degrees. The saw offers 0 to 60 degree miter cuts to the left and right, with positive stops at various angles, and a bevel lock located in the front of the saw for easy adjustments from 0 to 48 degrees left and right.
