WizeBuyz Take
Overall, the Makita XSH08Z receives high praise for its power and performance as well as its compatibility with guide rails for perfect, straight cuts. While there are some minor issues with the blade placement and the blade guard, these are outweighed by the cordless convenience, extended run time, and efficiency of the BL Brushless motor.
Cons
Blade is on the right side which may make it difficult to line up cut marks for some users
Blade guard may hang up sometimes
Pros
Cordless convenience with corded performance
Guide rail compatible base for perfect, straight cuts
Dual battery technology for extended run time
Powerful BL Brushless motor for efficient cutting
Automatic speed change technology for optimal performance
Powered by two 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries, Makita's proprietary x2 LXT technology delivers more power, RPM, and run time without the hassles of a cord. The electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor delivers a full 6, 000 RPM for efficient cutting, with automatic speed Change technology to adjust the cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. The saw has a large 2-5/8” cutting capacity at 90 degrees and is compatible with optional guide rails (sold separately) for dead-on straight or bevel cutting without the need for an adapter. The saw features an Electric brake for maximum productivity and a built-in dust blower to clean the line-of-cut, as well as a built-in tether notch (tether sold separately). The saw includes a 7-1/4” 24T carbide-tipped Max Efficiency Miter saw blade. Compared to standard blades, the max Efficiency Miter saw blade delivers up to 70% faster cutting.
According to internal testing, The XSH08Z made up to 610 cross-cuts per charge in 2x4 SPF lumber and up to 320 crosscuts per charge in 2x10 SPF lumber using two fully-charged 5.0Ah batteries (sold separately).
